There are THOUSANDS of dogs in need of help all over the World.
Below are a few of the Rescue Organisations and/or
People to contact if you think you could help.

Help can come in many forms ...
assisting with transportation to a new home;
fostering until a home can be found;
or opening your door and providing a "Forever Home".
Because a dog has been abandoned or needs re-homing,
does NOT automatically mean it is a "problem" dog .

We "adopted" PIP, the English Cocker Spaniel,
when he was in the sad situation of his
previous owner's new partner not liking dogs.

Their attitude was ....
"Easy fixed ... put the dog to sleep" !!  :((((

Thankfully this did NOT happen !

This merry little fellow had a WONDERFUL nature,
and fitted in beautifully with our other fur-kids !

His only "vice" was an OBSESSION with retrieving ...
including clothing !  (lol)

At only 3 years old,
Tara's previous owners
decided she was
"past her used-by date" !! :(((

They were moving from Queensland to Tasmania,
and couldn't be bothered with the hassle of finding
permanent or even temporary accomodation for her,
so they decided to put her to sleep.

Consequently, we had yet ANOTHER addition to the household !

Her arrival I will be ETERNALLY grateful for,
as she is the mother of my BEAUTIFUL girls ...

Aust CH Aberlour Yor Hiland Rose
(owned by Merry Pronk in Adelaide);

as well as

Aust CH Aberlour Ya Halos Slipd,
Aberlour Chanson D'Amour,
Aberlour Ooh La La, and
Springset Jive Talkn
(all owned by myself).

Laura, on the other hand, was a totally different and
appauling set of circumstances ! :((

She was 11 months old, and had lived ALL of her
short life in a bird aviary with 3 other Cavs.
Her previous owners were being pressured by their
Local Council to reduce their dog numbers (to 2).

These poor dogs had NO contact with the outside world,
as their only "window" was covered with sacking,
thus cutting off both light and fresh air !

When I collected her they wouldn't put her on the ground, as ...
Quote : "She'd run away" !
NO WONDER !!  :((((

She'd never even been on a lead, and didn't even have a NAME !

She was totally neurotic, and after she was brought home,
she would CHARGE around the property at full speed
for hours on end until exhausted, then collapse until next time!!

Even after almost 2 years with us, she is STILL very insecure
(although MUCH better than previously).
She cries incessantly if she can't be climbing all over you !

She has SO much love to give ... what they did was CRIMINAL !

Unfortunately I couldn't afford to purchase the others,
but 2 were not for sale anyway
(I'm assuming a so-called "breeding pair").

As soon as Laura was safely home,
her previous owners were reported to the SPCA.

I can only hope her fellow prison-mates were saved and re-homed,
as when I made follow-up enquiries with the SPCA
as to their fate, they wouldn't give me any information !

Almost 5 years ago, I found myself in the VERY distressing situation where, due to my changed personal circumstances,
I had to re-home numerous dogs.

There was NO WAY I was going to
"dump" or euthanase my dogs ...
and I was determined to find good "forever" homes !!

This was done with the assistance of
Lois Shepherdson (Qld Cavalier Rescue)
and Elaine Slingsby (Cavtown Kennels),
and I will be eternally grateful for their help ! :))

The point I'm trying to make ...

There is NO EXCUSE for not making EVERY attempt
to secure GOOD alternative homes in the
unfortunate event of having to re-home dogs,
either on a permanent or "foster" basis !

Cavaliers are VERY easy to find new homes for,
and there are MANY people more than willing to help
.... as I soon found out ! :))

There are also NUMEROUS "Rescue" Societies available,
including the Cavalier Clubs ....
but they need to be TOLD if and when you need help !!!
